Fabian Schulz, a native of Berlin, Germany, has been a post-doctoral researcher at IBM Research Laboratory Zurich since 2016. He is working together with Dr. Leo Gross on atomic and molecular manipulation by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and noncontact atomic force microscopy (nc-AFM).
Prior to working at IBM, he received his PhD from Aalto University, Finland in 2016. During his four years in the Atomic Scale Physics group headed by Prof. Peter Liljeroth, his research focussed on single-molecule scanning tunneling spectroscopy and the study of on-surface synthesis of graphene nanostructures by nc-AFM.
In 2012, Fabian Schulz completed his Master's degree at Freie Universität Berlin, Germany in the group of Prof. Nacho Pascual (since 2012 at CIC nanoGUNE, Spain), where he studied molecular charge transfer using STM and nc-AFM.
