Michael Becker is a pre-doctoral researcher in the Quantum Technology group at IBM Research - Zurich. As part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions “PHONSI”, his work focuses on optical spectroscopy of colloidal semiconductor quantum dots with emphasis on electronic fine structure, carrier dynamics, many-body phenomena and coherence properties.
Michael is working toward his Ph.D. degree under the supervision Prof. Dr. David J. Norris, lab director of the “Optical Materials Engineering Laboratory” (OMEL) research group at ETH Zurich, Switzerland.
Prior to his arrival at IBM Research, Michael was a student at the Technical University in Munich (TUM), where he received his Bachelor and Master degrees in Physics with specialization in condensed matter physics. In his Master degree he temporarily studied at the University of Manchester, UK and completed his Master thesis at the Walter Schottky Institut in the group of Prof. Dr. Jonathan J. Finley.
