I am a Visiting Scientist at the Cloud and Computing Infrastructure at IBM Research Zürich.
Prior to joining IBM, I was a post-doc at the Operating Systems laboratory (LABOS) at EPFL, lead by Prof. Zwaenepoel. There, I worked on improving the performance of key-value stores, efficient scheduling of jobs in data centers, and scalable protocols to enforce data consistency in geo-replicated settings. My research has been partially funded by an EcoCloud postdoctoral research fellowship.
I obtained my PhD from Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, under the supervision of Professor Paolo Romano. My thesis proposed new techniques that combine machine learning and analytical modeling to predict the performance of transactional platforms.
I obtained my Masters degree at Sapienza, Università di Roma, with a thesis that proposed a new load balancing scheme for optimistic simulation systems.
