Giorgia Dellaferrera joined the IBM Research – Zurich Lab in 2020 as a PhD student in the Neuromorphic Computing and I/O Links groups. She is participating in a joint PhD program between the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich), the University of Zurich and the IBM Research – Zurich Lab. Additionally, during her PhD, she has been working as a visiting student at the Harvard Medical School in the group of Prof. G. Kreiman.
Giorgia's current research focuses on developing biologically inspired training algorithms for artificial and spiking neural networks. She is also excited about applying machine learning models to predict and guide neural activity in the animal brain.
Giorgia holds a M.Sc. in Applied Physics from the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and has served as a research intern at the Okinawa Institute for Science and Technology (Japan), Logitech, the Swiss Space Center, and Imperial College London.
In her free time, she has worked as a dancer and dance instructor.
