Dr. Ulrich Schimpel combines extensive expertise in applying highly innovative technologies (like cognitive computing, spot pricing, IoT, blockchain, simulation, and video analytics) to various industries (e.g. public sector, supply chain management / logistics, distributed energy, and nutrition/food) in order to deliver sustainable value to the business. The teams that he led, primarily focused on Industry Solutions in the areas of highly networked business environments that face strong variability throughout their value chain, esp. supply chains, smartGrids (energy), and (public) transportation.
Other activities of Dr. Schimpel include being the Research Relationship Manager (RRM) for Retail and a member of the Patent Review Board at IBM Research, Zurich. Moreover, he has served as a supervisor to several Master's and undergraduate students. Dr. Schimpel obtained a degree in Information Systems (Dipl. Wi-Inf.) from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany, and received a PhD from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany.
