Understanding Mobility with Cognitive IoT Fabric - overview

Mobility is a critical dimension of health. From a physiology point of view, mobility is a manifestation of a functional integration of skeletal, muscular, nervous, circulatory, and respiratory systems. Therefore, it has been considered as a critical clinical evidence in assessing physical and/or cognitive health, including progression of neuro-degenerative diseases, quality of life, risk of fall, ability of independent living, frailty of pre- and post-surgery patients, etc. However, there is a lack of practical and scalable tools to harness the valuable information  embedded in motion we generate everyday in our natural living environment.

The goal of this project is to create a Cognitive IoT platform by combining multiple sensing modalities which offers contactless and privacy-preserving motion tracking and in-depth mobility analysis as micro-services for health applications.
