Embodied Learning Group at IBM Research - Tokyo - overview

We are focusing on applying reinforcement learning techniques to real world applications such as manufacturing machines and robots. Perception technologies are another area that we are intensively working on. It includes automatic speech recognition, acoustic classification, natural language processing, and image recognition for better understanding of unstructured data. In these areas, adaptation from a small amount of data and integration of multiple modals and multiple knowledge sources are important research challenges.

At the same time, new AI technologies can be used for updating software engineering methodologies. When enterprise customers want to try new AI technologies by themselves, it is vital for us to provide them with easy-to-use and reliable AI platforms. In addition, we are also engaged in the development of dedicated advanced AI solutions for enterprise customers.
