Privacy-enhancing technology for Browser Extensions - overview


The historical goal of Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PET) is to avoid censorship, preserve users privacy, and promote freedom of speech. PET allow online users to protect the privacy of their Personal and Sensitive data provided to and handled by services or applications.
 
In this work, candidates will get the opportunity to survey existing methodologies that can be leveraged by browser and application developers in order to protect the end-user’s privacy. The end goal is a research prototype for enabling browser extension developers to transparently leverage PET with negligible performances impact.
