Cirrus - overview

Project Cirrus is a joint project between IBM T.J. Watson, IBM Center for Advanced Studies, and University of Toronto. The project, started in 2010, is aimed at developing novel languages and tools to program and process Web data (XML, JSON, RDF) on the Cloud. Cirrus earlier focus has been on XML processing capabilities for the Cloud, notably integrating Hadoop with XQuery, the W3C XML query language. It is currently investigating new kinds of intermediate languages and algebras for Cloud processing that support effective optimization, and the ability to natively process multiple kinds of data models (notably JSON, RDF, relational and XML).
