Optimisation algorithms for quantum computers - overview


Quantum computing at IBM is driven cross-disciplinary by developing scalable quantum systems, and potential applications for the quantum technology available today. Optimisation is believed to be one of the research areas where quantum algorithms may prove an advantage. The goal of this project is to devise quantum algorithms specifically designed to tackle continuous and/or discrete optimisation problems, and test them on the real hardware. The work will involve both, theoretical and practical aspects, as well as spanning potential applications domains such as finance and mobility.
