IBM Family Science - Info for IBM Volunteers

Our primary resource for enhancing science and mathematics education is our own employees. The desire of many of our employees to offer a program to young children led to the Saturday morning activity of Family Science Saturdays (FSS), a series of hands-on science workshops for 4th and 5th grade children and their parents.

FSS is staffed entirely by IBM volunteers. We need new volunteers every year to replace those who no longer have the time or have moved on to a new location or new job. To assist our recruiting efforts, we have created the following presentation, showing some highlights of our program, as well as describing the responsibilities of our volunteers. We also have a wiki with detailed desciptions of volunteer roles.

Local schools are sponsored by IBM employees who volunteer in the program. School sponsors also act as the liaison to the school.

If you would like to volunteer, or learn more about volunteering, please contact FSS chief coordinator Grace Kaplan via email at
