Where the work was done: IBM T.J. Watson Research Center
What we accomplished: Highly scalable TCP router used in Deep Blue vs Garry Kasparov chess match in and 1996 Olympics. Also called the TCP Connection Router. It was used in the Deep Blue vs. Garry Kasperov chess tournament in January 1996 to resolve a scaling problem. The first full version of the technology was used to scale the 1996 Olympics. The first product version shipped in December of 1996 (Guerney Hunt, pictured).
