Responsibilities include the formation and execution of the IBM Research strategy and the Operations across IBM's 12 research laboratories and network of 17 collaborators across the globe. The role includes creating the long-term research agenda, leading the global technology outlook, driving the operations and financial plan execution, and collaborating with innovation partners worldwide. Primary areas of IBM Research include cognitive computing, blockchain, quantum computing, cybersecurity and more.

For over a decade I was the President of the Xerox Innovation Group with research centers located in Canada, Europe, India and the USA. I was also responsible for the research & technology partnership with Fuji Xerox in Japan. I also chaired Xerox's decision committee for Intellectual Property commercializations. I also served as Xerox's Focus Executive for P&G, EMC and Raytheon.
Xerox’s ~$20B revenue consisted of business process services for transportation, healthcare, customer care, education, human resources and more. Xerox is also the market leader in managed print services and digital printing and publishing solutions.
I retired when Xerox split into two new public companies (Xerox and Conduent) on December 31, 2016.
