Both Monte Carlo computer simulations and real-space renormalization-group methods have proven valuable for determining phase boundaries and critical properties of two-dimensional systems. A combination of these two approaches has certain advantages over the individual methods, and can lead to improvement in speed and accuracy. © 1983.
