Yi Zhou is a Research Staff Member in the AI Platforms Research group at IBM’s Almaden Research Center in San Jose, CA. Her primary research interests lie in the design of optimization algorithms and techniques for problems that arise in the field of big data analytics. More specifically, her current research focuses on designing, analyzing, and implementing fast and efficient algorithms to solve optimization problems, which have many applications in machine learning, statistical inference, distributed optimization, and federated learning. She is also interested in real-world applications of optimization models in large-scale data analysis.
Yi Zhou received her Ph.D. degree from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2018. Her doctoral dissertation focused on designing stochastic algorithms for distributed optimization and machine learning. She also worked on designing optimal first-order methods for general convex optimization problems. Moreover, she is experienced in deploying operations research models and methods in solving real-world problems in many fields, including power transmission systems and courier scheduling, etc.
Yi received her B.S. degree in Information and Computational Science from Sun Yat-sen University, China in 2013.
